2014 Henna Retreat Dates Announced!

We are so excited to announce the dates for the 2014 Henna Intensive & Retreat!

September 11th - 15th, 2014

The retreat starts on Thursday, September 11th, with arrivals from 12pm to 4pm. Arrive early and have an opportunity to unpack, get acquainted with the camp while it's light out, and freshen up for the mixer. Have a swim in the spring-fed swimming pool, or a power nap in the fresh, mountain air!

At 7pm on Thursday, our mixer, Gathering Under the Stars, begins! We'll provide some yummy, homemade lemonade, cucumber water, and delicious sangria along with scrumptious appetizers. Bring your excitement, some business cards, and a party attitude because we are going to have some fun! We'll mingle, listen to music, eat, and drink. It's always a magical night!

Friday morning, wake up to morning yoga out on the beautiful, redwood deck of the dining hall. Breath in the incredibly clean air, enjoy the light chirping of birds, and the breeze in the trees. Our amazing yoga instructor will help you stretch and get your day off to a great start! I can feel the serenity of the camp washing over me already.

After yoga, we'll have a delicious and hearty breakfast waiting for you to give you the energy you'll need to start off your day of classes. Each morning, in addition to the breakfast being served, there is always orange and cranberry juice, coffee, tea, cold cereal, and toast - for those who like a lighter breakfast. Finish your breakfast, get your class materials ready because next up is the first class of the day!

Classes begin at 9am on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and run all the way until 5pm EVERYDAY! That's incredible! Each class is two hours so that you get an in-depth look at the topic being discussed as well as some hands-on time to practice. There will be many classes to choose from each day, but we repeat each one twice at some point in the weekend to give you a better opportunity to try to take them all. Get ready for classes that will challenge your thought process and expand your horizons.

In the middle of the day, lunch is served in the dining hall and light snacks are brought around in the afternoon for anyone feeling peckish before dinner. We want to make sure you're well fed, happy, and healthy while at the retreat!

After classes have finished each day, there is an evening yoga sessions to stretch out tired and stiff muscles from sitting, hunching, and hennaing. Lori will help you release the bad toxins from your body and get you refreshed to start the evening.

Ever heard the saying "dinner and a show"? Well, that's what we provide every single night of the retreat! Friday night, we'll hike over to the Tipi Village for a bonfire, some s'mores, and an unforgetable Q&A with our instructors/presenters. It's a magical night, under the stars. It's a rare treat to see so many of them!

Saturday night, we offer a full-scale show of dance and music from around the world. In 2012, we offered Shimmer in the Moonlight filled with an evening of many styles of belly dance, live music, and the comedic stylings of Karma! In 2013, we offered the Dances from Around the World show, with performances representing Polynesian, Indian, Flamenco, Egyptian, and so much more. We can't wait to announce the theme of this year's show, it's going to be filled with lots of surprises!

On Sunday, classes end at 5pm and we have departures for those leaving Sunday night. BUT, wait! You don't have to go home yet. Everyone is welcome to join us - just choose the "add-on Sunday night" option and you'll have an incredible dinner and then a fantastic movie night with more opportunity to henna and have fun. We'll have candy and popcorn and drinks. We'll have an entertaining film and plenty of space to sprawl out and do some more henna!

Monday morning we'll have a continental breakfast - well, let's say it's on the BIG side for continental. Then it's time to pack up and say goodbye until next year's retreat.

It's an amazing 5 days and 4 nights that you will never forget. We hope you'll join us in 2014 for the most magical year yet!
